Inspired by Hong Kong action films from the 80s and 90s, COLD BREW is a turn-based, tactical, rogue-like putting you in the shoes of a HK action star who has been cast as the hero in the latest blockbuster. The boring talking segments have already been filmed, but there are still some key action scenes for the big finale that have been left to the last minute. Use your wits and mastery of choreography to act out the scenes so you can finally get this film released!

7DRL 2026 notes:

  • Performance greatly varies across different OS/browser combos. Hopefully those playing can reliably get around 60fps, but if not I hope to get a Windows executable version up soon for those to try.
  • ESC key exits full screen mode on itch.io. Please use BACKSPACE key or <Numpad 5> to cancel targeting.
  • There are some issues with python wasm and audio, so the sound/volume option sliders don't work on the web version for all browsers. 
  • You can mouse hover most things for more information.

the theming works really well in this! i love the dialogue - both helpful & funny.

Great sense of humor, I picked up a baby and it gave me "plot armor"! I felt like an action movie star. I'm not sure if my bullet upgrades were working since it kept asking me to select a slot and my gun performance didn't seem to change but maybe I was just getting the wrong upgrades. The "sokoban" style element of kicking furniture into place to get evasion upgrades was a nice touch. Really solid 7drl game.

Hey, thanks for checking it out! The bullet upgrades apply to the bullet slot/chamber. So if you added say a range and AOE upgrade to slot #1 it would affect the bullet every third shot you take. You can see a list of any upgrades on your current bullet in chamber in the left hand ui panel.

The recontextualising made me laugh a lot: “sometimes the shot looks best when you let them come to you”! Ha! The camera ever panning upwards is a really neat idea, too.
